Experimental area

The APOLLON laser beams are directed into 2 experimental areas.

The « short focal » area (HE1) will be more especially dediacted to laser interaction  with solid targets at intensities of a few 1021 W/cm2 (f/2,5) to generate proton, ion and x-ray radiation secondary beams. It will possible to combine on target the F1 (in red on the scheme below) et F2 (in pink) beams.

 

 

The « long focal » area (HE0) is dedicated to particle acceleration (especially electrons) using long focal length focusing optics (f/75); two target chambers are implemented in this area for laser-matter interactions  at 1 and 5 PW.
